Mark's Remarks: October 2020

Keep it Fun and Funky!

There has never been a better time to lean on technology to solve problems. Over the past few months I have been blown away with how much growth some of our FIRST students have demonstrated in their 3D design proficiency as well as problem-solving teamwork. It looks like people are finding ways to work even smarter through online collaboration than we could have thought possible.

Could it be that the quarantine may have had a silver lining for the way we think about collaboration?

We want to see how your teams are using virtual meetings and online collaboration to GET WORK DONE! Have you found an online class that really works for you?

Even I am going back to school after being out for 8 years - this time taking a course on Architecture and Systems Engineering from MIT. I am super pumped up about it because it is all online with collaboration opportunities with people from all over the world. This learning style is called ‘asynchronous learning’ which means you learn at your own pace but have time to get together as a group and share what you’ve learned.

I am really interested to see what ideas you all are building around how to help people get more active this season. Believe it or not, before the FLL game was released this year I had multiple people come to me with workout related prototype devices for the home looking to have them built out to get their ideas across to potential investors.

Hopefully you all are thinking of how this year's theme could initiate thoughts of a new reality for people moving away from stagnation and I encourage all of you to really look at the available products and services that get people working out and moving for their own sake.

Remember everyone, Fun is Key to keepin’ it funky, so keep it fun and funky!
